Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Finding the right fit with a therapist is important and
very individual. You need to feel comfortable with
your therapist and it can be tough to predict from a
website whether or not you will. For this reason, I
offer prospective clients an initial free 20-minute
consultation via telehealth. There is no obligation to
continue with me as your therapist after this
meeting. You can schedule an initial consultation by
calling my confidential Google voice number at (413)
248-8823, emailing amber@enodiacounseling.com,
or simply using the contact form on this website.

What happens during the free initial consultation?

This is a chance to get to know each other and test
out how it "feels". It is an opportunity to ask about
what therapy might look like with me, about the
treatment modalities used, or any other questions
you might have.

Do you provide in-person or online counseling?

I am currently offering online counseling through a
secure, HIPPA-compliant video platform. Online
counseling tends to work best for people who
devote dedicated time to their therapy appointment in a private place where they are comfortable and
will not be interrupted. A steady internet connection
is also helpful. You can use either your phone, tablet,
or computer to access. I have some limited in-person appointments available as well in my Northampton office.

Who do you work with?

I work with individuals who are aged 18 and older in
the states of Massachusetts and Vermont. During
my career I have worked with individuals from
diverse backgrounds facing a wide range of
challenges. However, I have special expertise in
working with people who have experienced trauma,
or who are suffering from depression and/or anxiety.

What should I expect at my first therapy session?

The initial session is the time for you to start to
share your story, talk about your goals and what you
would like to change. We are establishing a
relationship that will become the foundation for
working together. You will begin to figure out some
goals; I will begin to figure out how to help you get
there.

How long do appointments last?

Your initial appointment will be 90 minutes long.
After that, you may choose the length of your
appointment, based on your preferences and the
work that we are doing. Typical appointments are
either 60 minutes or 45 minutes in length. When
doing EMDR reprocessing, 90-minute sessions can
be helpful to ensure completed processing of the
memory and a return to emotional baseline.

How often will we meet?

In the initial stages of our work, we will meet weekly
to create a rapport and build momentum towards your goals. As we begin to make progress, the frequency of sessions can be adjusted to fit your need for support.
